I am Melvyn Ivy, an editorial and commercial people photographer.
2023 I did my Bachelor of Arts degree at HAW Hamburg in the field of photography in the class of Linn Schröder (Ostkreuz Agency).
My background in production that made me move to the big city made me learn about the virtue of mutual uplifting and collaborating on big and smaller sets.
I have spent years of assisting, being the person in the production pipeline after photographer, managing the studio, assisting on fashion and editorial productions and being the person between photographer and client up until delivery, cultivating my skills of communication, calm and joyful handling that carried forward into my freelance work, where I find just as much joy in pre- and postproduction, in planning and organising of productions, working on concepts, mood boards and the feeling of my work, as I find in taking the images themselves.
I was of the organisational and curatorial team behind the „Prints For Moria“ fundraiser (under Neu Workshop, non-profit).
Origin close to the baltic coast where I participated in collective structures (under Lübecker Flüchtlingsforum e.V.) organising events for, among others, Amnesty International, Sea-Watch and Seebrücke.
